Bike X Zone is a collection of relatively easy trails around Sušice in southern Czech Republic. They’re not long, but quite interesting – flowy with rocky sections. Beyond these official trails, you can also find a few trails from the 2022 EnduroXrace event in the area. There’s plenty to ride!

The official Bike X Zone Sušice trails are located on three small hills, about 2-3 km apart. The routes between them follow forest paths and quiet asphalt roads.

The longest of these trails is Epona. It’s marked as black, but that’s definitely an exaggeration. It’s a pleasant red trail with rock gardens and individual boulders.

A bit further north, on the next hill, you’ll find two short trails – Rocky 1 and Rocky 2. They’re officially marked as red, but I’d classify them as blue. They’re in a similar style to Epona, with smooth singletracks and rocky sections. They reminded me of the Polish Olbrzymy.

Continuing further north, you’ll reach the Morrigan trail. The first part is an easy flowtrail. The second part has plenty of rocky sections, not neatly arranged rock gardens but rather rough, sharp stones. For this reason, this trail was my least favorite. The black rating is also exaggerated here.

I was in Sušice in mid-May this year, and at that time, these four trails were the only official ones in the area. However, I now see on their website that a new trail, Linkin, has been added, and two more are under construction. Sounds promising :)

In 2022, Sušice hosted the Enduro X Race, which was a qualifier for the Enduro World Series, so we also wanted to check out those trails. They’re not on Trailforks; I only found this map.

Enduro X Race Sušice

Special Stage 1 (RZ1) starts on the same hill as the Morrigan trail and has some interesting rocky sections. Here, at times, it really felt like a black trail.

The most interesting part starts at 2:46.

We didn’t ride RZ2 because it was already too much for one day. RZ3 is Epona, RZ4 is Morrigan. Unfortunately, we couldn’t ride RZ5. We found the start of the trail, but shortly after, we turned right when we should’ve gone left, and soon after, the trail ended.

It took us a long time to find the start of RZ6. We eventually found it, but later, watching race footage, I realized that the beginning wasn’t the actual special stage from the event but some other trail. Further on, we got a bit lost in an area where there was logging, but we found the continuation of the path. Overall, it was a pretty interesting descent and the longest of all in the area.

My track from that day:

If you’re in the area, consider also visiting Bikepark Špičák.
